“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
I recall hearing the humorous story years ago about a minister’s visit to a family’s home. As he sat down with the family, mom told her little daughter, “Go get the book that your mom loves so much.” Her daughter ran off and quickly returned with the Sears catalog.
Kids know where our treasure is because our heart shows them where it is. The things we truly treasure and store up tend to take priority with our time and attention. Jesus said:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21
Jesus taught that the best investment we can make is in his kingdom. The treasures we store up there will last forever and can never be taken from us.
Where would your children or grandchildren say your treasure is?
